Robert S. Toth, M.D., J.D., LL.M., is a Senior Vice President of Tri-Star Financial. Bob, as he is known to his friends and clients, joined Tri-Star Financial as an Account Executive, after being a client of the firm since 2002. He has considerable personal and professional experience with fixed-income investments. Bob has successfully completed the Series 7 (Registered Securities Representative), Series 24 (General Securities Principal) and Series 66 (Registered Investment Adviser Representative) examinations of F.I.N.R.A. (formerly the N.A.S.D.) Bob also holds a Texas Life, Accident & Health Insurance License. His special interests include principal-protected investments that are suitable for investors who are either in or approaching retirement. Bob regularly addresses groups about retirement finances and other investment-related subjects.
Bob received his Bachelor of Arts Degree with honors in Actuarial Mathematics and Economics from Hunter College and studied Business and Operations Research at Stevens Institute. He received his Doctor of Medicine degree from Baylor College of Medicine. He also received a Doctorate in Jurisprudence with highest honors from South Texas College of Law and a Master of Laws Degree from the University of Houston Bates School of Law. Bob has been inducted into the Phi Beta Kappa, Pi Mu Epsilon, and Order of Lytae honor societies.
Bob practiced Emergency Medicine and Family Medicine in Dallas, San Angelo and Houston, Texas. He is a Diplomate of the National Board of Medical Examiners. Bob is licensed to practice by the Texas Medical Board and is a member in good standing of the Texas Medical Association and the Harris County Medical Society.
Bob practiced law in Houston since 1982. He is admitted to practice before all Texas state courts, the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit and United States District Courts for the Southern and Eastern Districts of Texas. Bob has been a member of the College of the State Bar of Texas since 1985.
In addition to his law practice, Bob has served as an instructor at South Texas College of Law and the Texas College of Trial Advocacy and hasdelivered numerous lectures to attorneys, physicians and nurses on medical-legal topics. He co-authored and co-edited Legal Medicine: Legal Dynamics of Medical Encounters, C.V. Mosby & Co. (1988). He also wrote "The Law of Physician Assistants and Advanced Nurse Practitioners in Texas" in South Texas Law Journal Volume 22 Number 1 (1981), as well as other legal articles.
Bob is Board Certified by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization and the American Board of Legal Medicine. He is Past President of the Houston Medical-Legal Society and Past Chairman of the State Bar of Texas Subcommittee on Malpractice Litigation. Bob has served six years on a State Bar of Texas Grievance (Attorney Disciplinary) Committee, including two years as its Chairman, and one year on the State Bar of Texas Unauthorized Practice of Law Committee. He is a member of the Houston Bar Association and a Fellow of the Houston Bar Foundation.
Bob is a Past Auxiliary Flotilla Commander assigned to the United States Coast Guard 8th District Central Region. He is a Trustee of the Houston Grand Opera and a Director of the Houston Grand Opera Guild.
